A tale of two hemispheres: what you're shopping from the Big Apple to the Land Down Under.
Is my brain fried? You be the judge.
I spend a lot of time with my head in two hemispheres. Sadly no, it’s not because I’m a jetsetter, constantly travelling the world, chasing the sun etc. But because Carted is currently available in Australia and the US (sorry to all our Canadian, UK and European friends…we’re definitely coming for you soon!)
It’s fun to share what our friends are adding to their wishlists and carts on the other side of the world (I think so anyway). As you know, I do love diving deep into the feeds and fanning out for my own personal inspiration. Perks.
Yes, it plays havoc with my efforts to shop seasonally. But if one would want to put a spin on it, one might also claim it’s just good forward planning…
Maybe this is why my favorite seasons are Spring and Fall. Trench coats with silk shorts. Sandals with light wool suiting. Boots with sheer lace skirts. It’s having the freedom to wear all your wardrobe heroes at once and not sweat the weather (pun intended).
To add some spice, I’ve got a little confession to make. Each time I scroll the feeds I make up little stories in my head about you/our shopping lovers. And because I love an overshare, I’m going to write down the romantic little vignettes I create about the person who added each item I find to their Carted. Not sure if this makes me seem slightly unhinged—or not. Up to you, lol.
What are we buying in the US?
1. Zara Long Shorts
Alex in Brooklyn works in design but bikes everywhere, and she needed something structured enough for meetings but cool enough for July heat. She’ll be wearing these with a crisp tee and loafers for an early morning coffee at Devoción.
2. AllModern Bamboo Spa Stool
Claire, a freelance writer in Echo Park, bought it after a particularly indulgent facial left her dreaming of a home spa. Now it sits next to her clawfoot tub, stacked with folded towels and eucalyptus—this is her new evening ritual.
3. Simone Rocha Pink Tulle Dress
Sienna, a Manhattan wedding planner, didn’t need another dress, but the delicate ruffles made her feel like a garden in motion. She wore it to a client's rehearsal dinner in the Hamptons (and got more compliments than the bride).
4. Paloma Wool Ayete Top
Maya, a film student in Silver Lake, stumbled on it late at night while moodboarding for a shoot. Sitting in the summer heat of her apartment she couldn’t stop thinking about how cool it would feel. She wore it with vintage jeans to a rooftop screening and felt like the main character.
5. Ormaie 28 Fragrance
Zoë, a Soho creative director, discovered it in a Paris boutique and later tracked it down online in a burst of nostalgia. The scent—clean, floral, unexpected—became her signature, spritzed before pitch meetings and gallery dinners alike.
6. Massimo Dutti Linen Midi Dress
Lena, a corporate lawyer on the Upper West Side, picked it for its simplicity—something minimalist to wear to Sunday farmer’s markets and weekday gallery previews. The linen made her feel light, even when her schedule wasn’t.
7. Ciao Lucia Ebba Dress
Nina, a studio photographer in Venice, fell for the nostalgic print and imagined it looking cute beachside. She wore it barefoot to a friend’s casual backyard wedding and felt both timeless and entirely herself.
Spilling tea on the Down Under purchases:
1. Zulu & Zephyr Fleece Sport Sweatshirt – Banksia
Chloe, a florist in Byron Bay, grabbed it after a particularly chilly sunrise flower market run left her craving something soft but grounded. The warm Banksia tone reminded her of native bushland, and now she wears it every morning with leggings and muddy boots.
2. Après Studio Blackberry Stripe Wool Cardigan
Rhiannon, a screenwriter living in Hobart, found herself lingering on it after a long scroll that was meant to be “just research.” The stripes and thick wool made it feel like a cardigan for thinking, and ideal for cold mornings spent editing scenes in a corner café.
3. St. Agni Wool Pinstripe Tapered Pants – Mahogany Stripe
Ana, a creative director in Brisbane, bought them after realizing all her jeans felt too casual and all her tailored pants too stiff. These hit the sweet spot—refined but wearable, perfect with loafers and a slouchy knit for meetings and gallery stops.
4. Adidas Originals Firebird Loose Track Pants – Green
Lexi, a ceramicist in Melbourne, ordered them the night her studio’s heater broke and she realised her old sweats just weren’t cutting it. The green was fun, retro, and surprisingly sophisticated. She’s worn them every day since, layered with oversized cotton shirts, sleeves rolled up.
5. Hommey Merino Alpaca Throw – Merlot
Mae, who recently moved into a tiny flat in Adelaide, didn’t mean to buy a throw but the deep red hue kept calling her back. Now it travels between her much-loved reading chair and the bed she bought from her favorite antique store.
6. Sézane Albane Loafers – Glossy Burgundy
Ivy, a university lecturer in Sydney, saw them and thought instantly of old libraries and rainy walks to campus. She wears them with thick ribbed socks and a wool midi skirt. Understated, practical, and quietly romantic.
I hope you enjoyed that ride—from Silver Lake, to the Upper West Side, Sydney to Hobart. If there are any categories you want to see more of, let me know. I’ve always thought I had a dramatic fashion novella in me…
love love and patiently waiting for Canadian access 🥰🥰🥰🥰
