I can absolutely relate to feeling like I have been duped by clever marketing when I impulse buy. Living in the US, the attitude can be “more is more.” And while trying to be mindful of my purchases, the consumerism culture here can be overwhelming. I love to hear about the French restraint! I am enjoying carted to thoughtfully plan out my purchases while getting that dopamine hit filling my lists and day dreaming of buying it all!

I really enjoyed Em's experience of French restraint too. I hear what you're saying re the marketing—but I also LOVE great marketing. I think you've hit the nail on the head, in that being more considered doesn't have to come at the cost of enjoying the process. It's just about being more aware.
